"We first booked with Island Hopper in 2021 for a trip in 2022, which was then cancelled due to covid. Chiara planned a great trip for us, and then graciously and efficiently cancelled it and processed our refunds. When we were able to travel again in 2024 we knew we wanted to go with Island Hopper again. One benefit of the delay was that we ended up doing more. We started our trip with nine days in French Polynesia (which we booked ourselves) and we also booked the Southern Exposure tour. Unfortunately it didn't go ahead due to lack of numbers, but Tania was able to book us individual trips to 3 of the islands.
We visited Atiu, Mangaia and Mauke, and had different experiences on each. Atiu Villas had the most beautiful garden that we stayed in, and we enjoyed Birdman George's tour and a Tumunu tour (bush beer social). Mangaia has striking makatea (dead coral) cliffs, and contrasting fertile plantations in the interior. We had a great tour here too, with Taoi and Brownie seeing the sights and experiencing freshly picked guava, and seeing how the wild hibiscus branches provide the material for rope and 'straw' skirts. On Mauke we had a great tour with Hui, seeing some of the local infrastructure including the solar powered water system. In Mauke you can drink the water straight from the tap! We were also very lucky to be invited to a lunch after church that was held to farewell the pastor and his wife.
One benefit of travelling to the smaller islands is that you get to meet locals and other travellers (either tourists, or temporary workers). On a little island you are seen and known!
In between our island trips we stayed at Sokala Villas, Magic Reef Bungalows and Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel, all great in their own ways. The views, the people, and the food were all great. We will miss the nu! Only the record high heat and humidity drained us. Thanks to Tania for her help in booking this wonderful holiday. "

"My wife and I looked at a variety of agent options to help us book an upcoming 40th wedding anniversary trip to the Cook Islands. We felt that the Australian agents were constantly having to research answers to our questions and decided that local agents would know best. Fortunately we contacted Island Hopper Vacations as we wanted to do a two island trip.
Despite our many questions, changes of mind and what ifs, Tania Dyer replied with grace and patience to all our requests and developed a wonderful itinerary that includes everything we asked for.
